In poker, there are many hands who a player can use to win a game. In this moment, we can mention "flush". The flush is a hand formed with 5 cards, all of these must be of the same suit (hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades.), but they not need to be in order and not necessarily consecutive. An example of flush could be: 4 6 9 J A of spades or A K Q T 7 of hearts.
This kind of hands are used when during a poker game, all bets are completed, and the players that have not been removed from the game, should show their cards. A Flush is at number five on the scale of values and the probability of obtaining it, is one in 508.80.
For those players who are not familiar with the different poker hands, you should know there are in addition, other 2 types of hands known as flush, which are the best moves you can get in poker and occupy the top two on the List of poker hands . But these hands are more difficult to obtain, so they are generally used by professional players. The names of these hands are: Straight Flush and Royal Flush.
Inexperienced players sometimes tend to confuse the names, so I will mention the difference between hands:
"Straight flush" hand, ranks second in importance in the list of poker hands. The odds of getting this hand are one in 72,193. In this hand the player has 5 cards, all of them are from the same suit and consecutive. Some examples of this hand: Q♣ J♣ 10♣ 9♣ 8♣ or 10♣ 9♣ 8♣ 7♣ 6♣
In this hand, the Ace may not have the highest value, but may have the lowest, for example, is allowed to have: 5 ♦ 4 ♦ 3 ♦ 2 ♦ A ♦ to this particular hand where the Ace is the lowest card, is called "steel wheel"
"Royal Flush" hand is well known as "The King of the Straight Flush" because is a straight flush hand, where the Ace is the highest card. This hand is considered the highest ranking hand who a player can reach. There is one possibility for each 2,598,960 to get this hand, the chances of obtaining it are one in 649,740, during a single game
As a curious fact, let me say to you there are 40 possible straight flushes combinations, besides, the royal flush in spades is considered the highest possible hand.
For some players these odds seem unattainable, however, it is important to remember a good poker player is one who spends time practicing and never give up (even if you lose some games). The point of poker is to move forward, improving the ability and skills of the game.
